Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) Jean Mensa says every Ghanaian should ignore any comments and unverified information spreading like wildfire.
According to her, such activities could be consequential to the peace currently being enjoyed in Ghana.
“We entreat you to ignore some of the speculations and allegations that are going out.
"Together, let us educate the citizenry and share the information with those who might not be aware of it.
"The peace of this country should be paramount," she said.
Jean Mensah went on to explain that the reason for her delay in declaring the winner of the presidential polls was to receive collation results from two remaining regions.
Her outfit issued a statement apologizing for its inability to declare the election results by 5pm as it had previously promised.
The Commission said it has so far received collated results from 14 regions and is working with agents of political parties to complete the exercise.
She called on the public to remain calm as the political party agents are reviewing all results prior to certification by the Chairperson of the Commission, who is the returning officer for the presidential election.
