The New Edubiase Constituency will begin the construction of a Vocational Training Institute come next year to accommodate school dropouts and persons unable to further their education in the Ashanti Region.
Speaking at a durbar in the Adansi South District, the Chief of Edubiase, Oguahyia Oduro Panin Birikorang made known the intentions of the Traditional Council and leaders.
According to him, the constituency is done waiting for the government to address the town’s challenges.
“For so many years, when our children complete school or drop out, they sometimes find it challenging to further their education. What we plan to do come next year is to build a vocational training institute.”
He added: “In the coming year, we shan't sit and wait for government but we shall start work and should there be any need for assistance, we will call on the government.”
However, the Ashanti Regional Minister Simon Osei Mensah, who addressed the gathering gave the assurance that the government would support the community in its developmental agenda.
“As I presented your requests before the Vice President in our last visit, I will do same. You have made mention of a vocational training institute, lorry terminal and a library and computer laboratory complex, I will make sure your requests reach him.
“We will join forces with you to ensure all these requests are made a reality,” he stated.
