After a one month break, the Ghana Premier League returns for the second round.
Teams have had a whole transfer window to get themselves ready for the business part of the season.
The usual trend of managerial changes continued over the break and all is set for the beginning of the second round.
Here are four games you can’t afford to miss this weekend.
Great Olympics vs Medeama
This fixture holds a lot of significance as both Great Olympics and Medeama occupy second and third respectively.
A win for either teams will solidify their title charge. Olympics have been the dark horses this season putting majority of the big sides to their sword. In the reverse fixture, the Dade boys held out to a 1-1 draw.
For Medeama, they’re on a good run of winning five out of their last seven games and have been inspired by new signing Ahmed Toure.
It looks like a high octane game with both sides expected to go for all three points.
Stadium: Accra Sports stadium, Accra
Time: Friday, 15:00GMT
Prediction: Great Olympics 2-2 Medeama
Eleven Wonders vs Asante Kotoko
This is an important fixture for two sides who find themselves at different ends of the table.
Both sides shared the spoils when they met back in Accra but the ambitions of both clubs will be different now.
Asante Kotoko are playing catch up and need to pick up maximum points to close the gap between themselves and Karela.
Eleven Wonders ended the first round on a very poor note and have slipped into the relegation battle as a result.
Wonders have beefed up and have signed two former Kotoko players Alex Asamoah and Amos Frimpong.
Kotoko lost their top scorer Kwame Poku and have replaced him with three different strikers in Michael Vinicius, Sarfo Taylor and Andy Kumi.
The Porcupine Warriors have also undergone a managerial change as former Black Stars Mariano Barretto will take charge of the side in the second round.
Even without Poku, Kotoko will still be a strong side considering their imperious away record having lost just one game on the road.
Stadium: Ohene Ameyaw Park, Techiman
Time: Saturday, 15:00GMT
Prediction: Eleven Wonders 0-2 Asante Kotoko
Hearts of Oak vs Aduana Stars
Hearts of Oak endured a rocky first round. The Phobians still managed to keep it together and still be in the tittle race.
Currently just four points behind Karela, new coach Samuel Boadu will be eyeing the ultimate come end of the season.
Boadu has been backed by the board and has improved the squad after signing Salifu Ibrahim and Caleb Amankwah.
Aduana Stars themselves have been active in market snapping up the coveted Benjamin Tweneboah.
The Ogya Boys also have a new manager in former Hearts of Oak assistant manager Asare Bediako.
It sets it up for an intriguing tie with Bediako facing his former employers.
Stadium: Accra Sports stadium, Accra
Time: Sunday, 18:00GMT
Prediction: Hearts of Oak 3-1 Aduana Stars
Karela United vs AshGold
Karela United know that if their performance in the second round is anything close to their first, they’ll be crowned champions.
Their home form hasn’t been a problem as they have accumulated the most points from home games so far this season.
What Evans Adotey can improve on is their performance on the road. So far, Karela have picked up just seven points from their eight away games.
However, that wouldn’t be their immediate concern as the Aiyinase-based side will welcome AshGold on matchday 18.
The Miners have gone through a massive revamp signing 10 players in the second transfer window.
In the same period, Romain Folz has also been appointed as new coach of AshGold.
The transition period could take some time but Karela United wouldn’t mind and look favourites heading into this tie.
Stadium: Crosby Awuah Memorial Park (CAM Park), Aiyinase
Time: Sunday, 15:00GMT
Prediction: Karela United 2-0 AshGold
