Highlife legend, Amakye Dede has revealed his name ‘Abrantie’ has had a positive impact on his life and physique.
At age 63, the Ghanaian musician who many say has refused to grow equated his looks to the name ‘Abrantie’ to wit gentleman.
He told JoyNews Becky on E vibes show that; “I think the name has seriously had an effect on my life. I’ve been given so many names, some call me expensive boy and likes.”
Amakye Dede added that maintaining the name comes at a cost.
“If you want to maintain your name, you must always spend,” he added.
The 'To be a man' hit-maker also added that he is a very simple man who dresses like any other person.
Amakye Dede began his career in 1973 when he joined the Kumapim Royals as a composer and vocalist.
This band, led by Akwasi Ampofo Agyei (AAA), had hits such as “Abebi Bewua Eso”, “Wanware Me A”, “Odo Mani Agyina”, and the seminal “Ohohoo Batani”.
Dede moved to Nigeria where he had his hit “Jealousy go shame”.
