Students of the A.M.E Zion Junior High School have hit the streets of Akwatia to protest against people defecating in their classrooms and school compound.
The students together with their teachers and some parents agitated to draw the attention of the District Assembly and others stakeholders to their plight.
According to them, the actions of the faceless persons is gravely affecting academic and other extracurricular activities.
"In the last two weeks, the act of defecating in the school has gone up to the extent that each day, the students sweep people's faeces in their classrooms.
"Just yesterday, the pupils came to school and saw their classrooms soiled with toilet," an angry parent lamented.
The protesters, clad in red armed bands and head gear marched through the streets of Akwatia to the Denkyembour district assembly to present a petition to the District Chief Executive but he was not available to receive it.
Headmistress of the school, Madam Augusta wants authorities of the Ghana Education Service (GES) to integrate the students and the staff into another school if it cannot find a tackle the problem head-on.
One of the teachers, Elsie Inkoom said the school is in such a sorry state that they urgently need authorities to fix the problem.
"We have done all what we could to stop such act but all have proven futile. They leave their faeces right in the classrooms and open spaces and it's unbearable," she explained.
The school has temporarily been closed down until a lasting solution is found.
