Four men and a lady have allegedly attacked one Kenneth Opoku Kwarteng of the Bob Figures Methodist Junior High School in the Bole District of the Savannah Region rendering him unconscious.

The group, allegedly led by a 38-year carpenter, Mogstawu, also chased out the students who were being supervised by the victim to stack up cement blocks before vandalising and destroying the blocks and other property in the area.

The victim was subsequently rushed to the Bole District Hospital for treatment.

The Bob Figures Methodist Junior High School is a Government-Mission partnership and sited on the church's premises and is under the direct supervision of the church.

The Resident Minister of the Bob Figures Methodist Church-Ghana, Very Reverend Philip Mintah, said his outfit is unhappy with the series of attacks on its members and teachers by people believed to be natives of Bole.

Recounting the incident to Joy News, Very Reverend Philip Mintah said, "last Friday, the children wanted to play and the church's blocks that have been moulded, were occupying part of the field.

"So, the teacher of the school and an elder of the church who is my Circuit Steward and a teacher was tasked to supervise the children to repack the blocks. Then he was attacked. And according to the children, four boys attacked him and when he was trying to move away from them, they threw a block at him and he collapsed," the Reverend Minister indicated.

"This is the second time in my three years of being here. In the last incident that it happened, we went to court but in the spirit of peace and coexistence, we let it go though some arrests were made".

"The court took a decision. It ruled in our favour that we should go ahead with the work but the Bolewura wrote to the church to stop us and that because the youth were giving us so many problems so we should wait till further notice.

"And so, we've waited for one year and we were not constructing the wall, we were only packing the blocks and this happened. We're praying that after the police investigation, we would be allowed to put up our fence wall," he said.

According to the Reverend Minister, the situation has "been very unpleasant. We have over 1000 children on the compound both public and private schools. They are both Methodist schools and you have these motor riders who ride with all the speed they can all the time everywhere and there have been accidents and it's disheartening.

"It's not a pleasant scene at all and protecting the children by building a defence wall, is protecting the very children of Bole. It is for their benefit. So, we don't feel comfortable at all," Reverend Philip Mintah lamented.

DSP David Azumah Dogbatey, the Bole District Police Commander revealed that officers were dispatched to the scene after receiving complaints from the school and invited the female suspect for questioning.

"We arrested and interrogated the woman among them but she denied any wrongdoing and was granted bail. It is also not true that the police refused to arrest the key suspect, named Ostar, because they were afraid of him".

"We are still investigating the matter," DSP David Azumah Dogbatey added.

A year ago, the church started the construction of a defence wall for the school and the church premises but were attacked by a youth group and the wall pulled down.

The case was sent to court and was ruled in favour of the church but the Chief of Bole, Bolewura Sarfo Kutuge Feso I intervened and asked that the case be settled at his palace. However, a year down the line, it has not been resolved until this attack.
