Taking charge Thursday at the 2021 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) Volta Regional qualifier, Sonrise SHS gave a splendid performance to qualify for the national contest.
Contestants of Sonrise SHS did not hesitate to bring down its contenders Agotime SHS, Weta and Apkafu SHTS in their quest to win this year's trophy.
All four rounds of the contest were dominated by the school as its contestants displayed prowess and temerity.
At the end of what seemed like a non-herculean task, Sonrise SHS garnered 54 points to carry the day.
Far from being easy-peasy, Agotime SHS, Weta and Apkafu SHTS could not secure at least 10 points. While Agotime SHS and Weta SHTS managed to score 9 and 6 points respectively, Apkafu SHTS went home without a point.

Sonrise SHS has joined its counterparts Abor SHS and Dzodze-Penyi SHS who also qualified to join the race to becoming 2021 NSMQ Champions.
The last Volta Regional contest featured Bishop Herman College, Wovenu SHTS, Peki SHS and Mafi-Kumasi SHTS.
Since the inception of the NSMQ competition 28 years ago, no school from the Volta Region has been able to earn the bragging rights as champions.
But according to Chief of Sokpoe, Torgbui Foe Tsali III, the necessary measures have been put in place to break the jinx.
