The Director of Passports at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Mr Louis Obeng, has outlined the steps to be followed by any applicant for a Ghanaian Passport.
Speaking on Joy FM's Super Morning Show Tuesday, Mr Obeng said whether it is a fresh application or renewal of expired Passports, the following steps need to be followed:
Open the Ghana.gov website.
Click on Passport Office.
Click on “Apply”
Click “OK”
Click on “Sign Up” at the right-corner of your screen
Enter your details
Click on “Continue” after completing the details
A One Time Password (OPT) would be sent to the phone number provided during the registration.
Click on “Apply”
Search for the Passport Office
Click on “Apply”
You would be redirected to a different page
Click on “Authorize” to enable the application share your details with the Passport Application portal
You will be redirected to the passport application platform as shown below to either Make Payment or Verify Voucher
He further added that passports which expire in six months cannot be used to travel by the holder.
Mr Obeng also mentioned the approved fees for the various types of passports.
He stated that, the regular 32-page booklet goes for GH¢100 and the expedited service, which is 48 pages goes for GH¢150.
He indicated that any fee, other than the aforementioned is not authorised by the Passports Office, thus illegal.
