The Bono East Regional Minister, Kwesi Adu Gyan has cautioned the people of the region against the non-adherence to the Covid-19 protocols.
According to the Minister, anyone found flouting the directives will be arrested and prosecuted since the region has now been tagged as one of the emerging hotshots in the country.
He made this known at a press conference in Techiman to outline measures taken by the Regional Security Council to curb the rising number of cases recorded across the region.
"Since the pandemic began in the country, this is the first time our region has fallen into this category of being described as a hotspot.

"This is a clear indication of our non-compliance of the safety protocols and preventive measures for Covid-19 as announced by His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the Ghana Health Services."
The Minister indicated that as a means of reducing the numbers, some measures are being taken and this includes, "the mandatory wearing of nose masks appropriately at all times. Again, all events associated with funerals must be held in open space, while one week funeral celebrations are restricted solely to family members and should not exceed the duration of two hours."

"Also, post funeral receptions are banned. Churches and mosques programs should not exceed two hours and members should not be more than two hundred," he added.
On the enforcement of these protocols, Mr. Adu Gyan noted that a task force has been instituted to ensure that persons who flout the directives are arrested and prosecuted.
"The region has set up a task force to enforce these protocols. This would be led by the security agencies, their main role is to ensure that where these protocols are breached, offenders are prosecuted for failing to adhere."
The region according to Mr. Kwesi Adu Gyan has prepared adequately for such actions.
