Division One side FC Samartex 1996 have announced Kobina Amissah will be their new head coach for the 2021/22 season.
Amissah recently led Bibiani Gold Stars to their first ever top flight promotion.
He left his role 29 days later stating he was tired in an interview with Citi Sports.
“I need total rest, total recovery, because of all the hard work I’ve done. During the Anas expose, I also worked through the Normalisation period and the Covid season. So I feel like I need to change the environment a bit.
“I am tired and I need a break. I am not quitting the game. I am too young for that, but I need time for myself to recharge,” the former Berekum Chelsea coach added.
Amissah joins Samartex, who finished third in Zone Two last season.
Since 2008, he has promoted 4 teams to the Ghana Premier League; Berekum Chelsea (2008), Sekondi Hasaacas (2011), Elmina Sharks (2015) and Bibiani Gold Stars (2021).
However on all four occasions, Amissah failed to complete a Premier League season with a team he has promoted.
In 2008 he helped Berekum Chelsea gain promotion, in 2011 he helped Sekondi Hasaacas back up, he then moved to Elmina Sharks where they were promoted in 2015.
In these three teams, Amissah only started the Premier League season once, and that was with Elmina Sharks were he was sacked halfway through the season.
Samartex was founded in 1995 by the Samartex Timber & Plywood Company as a recreational football club, and gained promotion from the Third Division to the Second Division of the Western Region in their first season.
