Covid-19: Ghana’s death toll stands at 1,150

Some eight individuals have died from the Covid-19 pandemic within four days in the country, data from the Ghana Health Service (GHS) indicates.

These additional casualties bring Ghana's death toll to 1,150 as of September 24.

In its latest update, the GHS recorded about 3,410 active actives and out of these, 120 are said to be severe.

Forty-two of the active cases recorded in all 16 regions are critical.

The Greater Accra Region alone contributed about 2,163 of these active cases.

Main breakdown

According to the Health Service, a total of 210 new cases were recorded in 6 regions and the Kotoka International Airport. Also, 128 of these cases came from the Greater Accra Region.

As it stands now, a total of 127,017 Covid-19 cases have been confirmed since the emergence of the virus in March last year.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Health Service has discharged from various health facilities 122,456 individuals who recovered from the virus.

Also, Director-General of the Service, Dr Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, has disclosed that the country will receive a total of 18,742,610 doses of Covid-19 vaccines within the last three months of the year.

The total doses comprise 834,720 AstraZeneca, some 1,330,290 Pfizer, and 16,577,600 Johnson and Johnson vaccines.
