Tonight, JoyNews PM Express took a look at the hoax shooting incident involving dancehall/reggae artiste, Shatta Wale.
On Monday, two persons who work closely with the award-winning singer took to social media claiming that the "My level" hitmaker had been shot by unidentified assailants.
Reports on many websites said Shatta Wale had to be rushed to an unnamed hospital’s emergency room due to the severity of his injuries.
Subsequently, the Ghana Police Service intervened to ascertain the whereabouts of Shatta Wale. Relatives and friends of the artiste were interrogated. A team was deployed to his residence, all to no avail.
Later, Shatta Wale, born Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr, broke his silence over the matter. He explained that he went into hiding due to a prophesy from one Bishop Stephen Akwasi, who predicted his death on October 18.
Shatta Wale further revealed in a post on Facebook that his whereabouts would remain unknown until the security services take the needed steps to guarantee his safety.
This revelation led the Police to believe the singer had a hand in the stunt. The two, Kojo Owusu Koranteng and Eric Venator were apprehended for circulating false information with regards to Shatta Wale’s safety. Bishop Stephen Akwasi was also arrested for causing fear and panic.
The Service then commenced a search for Shatta Wale to aid in investigation. The dancehall/reggae artiste was later reported to have turned himself in on Tuesday, October 19.
Following the turn of events, many have wondered whether the hoax shooting incident indicates a thirst for stardom on the part of the Shatta Movement President.
Host of PM Express, Evans Mensah interacted with Radio Personalities, George Quaye and Andy Dosty, Entertainment pundit, Arnold Asamoah Baidoo, Lawyer Bobby Banson and Kwame Agyemang Berko, Head of Communications at Stonebwoys' Burniton Music Group, to find out the inside story of the now confirmed prank.
