Farmers at Anyinamso in the Atwima Nwabiagya District of Ashanti are seeking government intervention in what they describe as an invasion of their cocoa farms by illegal miners.
The entire river belt of the River Anyinam has been taken over and destroyed by illegal miners, even as the government's 'Operation halt' fights to mine close to water bodies across the country.
A visit to the small farming community reveals a daring act of illegal mining in the path of water bodies.
Cocoa farms are found to be selling for between ten thousand and twenty-five thousand cedis.
Luv FM's Erastus Asare Donkor was in the area and filed this report.
