Assistant coach of the Black Stars, George Boateng, says he will be itching to see Ghana draw one of England, Netherlands or Germany when the FIFA World Cup draw comes off on Friday, April 1.
The Black Stars await their fate in the global showpiece after beating the Super Eagles of Nigeria to a spot to represent Africa.
Speaking exclusively to JoySports, the Aston Villa Under-23 manager expressed that despite wanting to avoid a group of death, it will be exciting to see Ghana come up against some of the heavyweights in Qatar.
“I think that if you are at the World Cup stage, you want to draw the best countries. So, for me it will be amazing if Ghana will draw against England as an example,” he said.
“Why? Everybody knows that the head coach is Gareth Southgate. I played with him for six years, he managed me for two years. I still speak to him on a regular basis, where we exchange details and ideas. So, it will be amazing for me if Ghana will draw against England…It will be fantastic to play against the Stars. So, England, definitely.
“Second, I think it will be amazing if Ghana will draw in the group of Holland. I am not putting us in the group of death because definitely, we will have no chance but I am very close to Holland so it will fantastic if we draw against Holland.
“And then because of Otto [Addo], I think if we draw against Germany, it will also be amazing for Otto personally because of his background and attachment with Germany.
“The likes of France, obviously are there. You’ve got Brazil but I think if we can draw against two top countries, it will be amazing,” he concluded.
The FIFA World Cup draw will be live on Joy News and Joy Prime on Friday, April 1, with a special build-up to the event starting at 3:45pm.
