A 21-year-old man has been arrested by police in the Eastern Region for allegedly killing his grandparents at Akim Hemang in the Fanteakwa South District.
According to reports, the suspect, Appiah Moses, attacked the victims, 75-year-old Yaa Yeboah, and 80-year-old Appiah Korang, with a hammer and a pestle.
It is unclear what triggered the attack but the victims were rushed to the Hawa Memorial Hospital in Osiem after the incident. Unfortunately, they were pronounced dead on arrival by medical personnel at the facility.
The attention of the police was subsequently drawn to the matter by community members who ensured the arrest of the suspect.
According to the Eastern Regional Police PRO, DSP Ebenezer Tetteh, he will soon be put before the court.
