Alarmed by the increasing spate of road crashes in recent, the Men’s Ministry of Church of Pentecost,  Adansi Asokwa District, have launched a road safety education drive targeting children in basic schools in the area.

In their bid to transport the students to and from schools, the church observed some schools often use rickety vehicles, putting the lives of pupils at risk.

Speaking at a ceremony to launch the campaign over the weekend, under the theme, “Saving Lives to Posses the Nations,” District Pastor, Kennedy Eshun, called for the support of all and sundry to save lives.

In attendance were school proprietors, drivers from private basic schools in the area,  assembly members and other dignitaries, including NADMO, Fire Service and the Department of Social Welfare.

Chief Inspector Emilia Benson of the Obuasi police MTTD  Obuasi called on school authorities to pay attention and be mindful of children's safety.

Whilst calling for regular maintenance of school buses, she advised drivers of such buses to respect road traffic regulations and be disciplined on the road to protect lives and property.

Other speakers took turns to advise school owners and drivers on the need to ensure the safety of the students they transport.
