For the first time in Ghana’s history, German giants Borussia Dortmund will grace the motherland with its legends for a friendly against selected African greats at the Accra Sports Stadium on the 11th of June 2022.
On Wednesday, 11th of May, hosts Shooting Stars FC in partnership with Borussia Dortmund held a press briefing for their main event, the legends tour. Members of Shooting Stars FC, the Ghana Football Association, and ex-footballers were present for the event.
Speaking to the media ex-Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan said it was an honour to be a part of the event.
He was not the only former player to speak at the event.
“I played in Germany for a long time, and I love the spirit of the Germans. The fact that they have taken this initiative is something very good,” the former Black Stars head coach, Charles Kwabla Akonnor said.
“I am excited, I can’t wait. I’m looking forward to the 11th of June,” he added.
Members of Decathlon and MyHealthCom who are sponsors of the event were present as well. Both parties said it was an honour to be a part of such a memorable event and called for Ghanaians to also support this cause.
“We need to commend shooting stars and the organizers for doing a wonderful job. The GFA sees it as a great honour,” Sammy Anim Addo, member of the Ghana Football Association Executive Council said.
“We are going to export Ghana in the way of football, export our culture and tourism. This is something positive for Ghana."
