The family of an apprentice who was allegedly shot by the Police in the Upper East Region has given more details about the aftereffect of the incident.
According to the family, their beloved relative sustained two gunshots from the Police after the motor rider she was riding when she failed to heed calls by the officers to stop for random inspection at the checkpoint.
Speaking to JoyNews, the victim's brother, Godwin Wuni, disclosed that the bullets that perforated her body are yet to be removed. However, she was admitted to Bolgatanga Hospital for more than 24 hours.
A situation, Mr Wuni said, has generated fear amongst the family since their might lose her.
“They’ve not been able to remove the bullets, so they are still in her body. According to the doctor, if she were bleeding, they would have called for surgery, but she isn’t bleeding much; there wouldn’t be any surgery, but they would prescribe drugs that can manage the situation.
“For us [the family], we are not certain we are still afraid because we don’t know what is happening,” Mr Wuni said.
Meanwhile, the Public Relations Officer of the Upper East Police Command, ASP David Otchere –Fianko said the incident resulted from the motor rider crashing the barricade.
Thus, they have launched investigations into the case.
