Ghana's 100m record holder, Benjamin Azamati will run in 100m Heat 7 alongside the United States' Christian Coleman and Andre de Grasse at the World Athletics Championships.
Azamati who has run the ninth fastest time in the world this year clocked 9.90s in the Texas relays in March to secure qualification to the event. In what has been a remarkable year of the National 100m record holder he run 9.96s and 9.86 (+3.0) for West Texas A&M University before competing at 2 diamond league races this year.
The ASICS athlete came fourth behind Olympic 200m champion De Grasse at Bislett games (10.15s) and won the 100m (10.25)-1.6m/s at the Paris diamond league days later. Azamati will discover the men he will go up against for a chance in the semifinal after the preliminary round is completed at midday at the Hayward field.
The 100m Heats are scheduled to begin on Friday at 18.50 Oregon time (1.50am Ghana time on Saturday, July 16). However, Azamati's race is scheduled for 2:25 am (Ghana time).
