Religious leaders have been urged to establish a dialogue with government on issues affecting the country and the Church instead of publicly criticising the latter.
Dean of Business School at Wisconsin International University College, Ghana, Dr. Bright G Mawutor made the call during the Thanksgiving Service of the 10th General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian (EP) Church, held in Ho on Sunday.
The staunch leader of the EP Church noted that all over the world, the Church plays a complementary role and talks on contemporary issues concerning society to draw the attention of government on issues they think need to be addressed.
‘’I will not advocate for religious leaders publicly criticizing government because they are not politicians and should not assume the roles of the politicians, but rather play a complementary role on issues in society,’’ Dr. Mawutor said.
He advised the Church to continue to teach its members well to make a positive impact in society because the values of society are being lost and the Church must help in this regard.
He noted that the Church must not only preach but teach and do a lot that addresses issues of the society and help in the nation building as the moral voice of the society and reach out also to the lost souls and bring them back to Christ.
