Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu smokes peace pipe with Gabby Otchere-Darko

Majority Leader in Parliament, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu has smoked the peace pipe with a cousin of the President and a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko.

The two were seen in a photo happily smiling together after they had lashed out at each other a few days ago.

Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko together with the Deputy Minister for Local Government, O. B. Amoah visited the Suame MP in his office at Parliament on Wednesday.

Mr Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu in a recent interview with a Kumasi-based radio station expressed disappointment at Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko for accusing him of instigating the 80 NPP MPs to demand the removal of Ken Ofori-Atta.

He said the allegations against him are unfounded and denied such allegations.

“From nowhere, we hear Gabby Otchere-Darko on his Asaase Radio accusing me of instigating what was happening, for what? What do I stand to gain from that?”

The Majority Leader subsequently questioned the authority of Gabby Otchere-Darko in the scheme of things in the government.

“There are people who would rather want to cause disintegration while you are committed to integrating. But now this has brought about another sense of anger.

“That Gabby Otchere-Darko, who does he think he is? I serve Akufo-Addo, and I serve the party as well as the government… when we talk about the government itself, what is your locus standi to be accusing me of being an instigator?” he queried in an interview on a Kumasi-based Sompa Radio over the weekend.

However, the President's cousin has denied accusing the Majority Leader of masterminding the call for the resignation of Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta.

Replying to the outburst by the Suame MP, Gabby Otchere-Darko on his Facebook page wrote “I have said no such thing on Asaase Radio or any other radio station or media house, whether on air or online, either directly or indirectly. Indeed, my position, so far, on this issue in Parliament within the Majority Caucus, has been to deliberately stay away from commenting on it publicly.

And, “I have never sponsored any candidate against the Majority Leader for the Suame seat. I would never do such a thing to a person I considered a strong loyalist even within the NPP."
