Individuals yearning to undergo body enhancement procedures have been admonished to be measured in their expectations.
According to plastic surgeon at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, there have been instances where patients have felt disappointed after undergoing the procedure.
Dr. Nii Ayi Ankrah said such surgeries may result in complications and that individuals must be well aware of the dangers so that they are not disappointed at the end.
Speaking on The Doreen Avio Show on Joy Prime on Saturday, the medical practitioner stated that despite consultations with patients prior to surgery, they still have high hopes of looking exactly as they wish.
"Sometimes no matter what you tell the patient; she got in mind, ‘I’m going to look like Beyoncé,' and when you’re done and she doesn’t look like that, then she is particularly not happy."
"There's a risk of infection. It is not a perfect science. We are men. We cannot be God, so we cannot always get things exactly equal on both sides, but largely, if you do it at the right place and in the right hands, it’s quite safe," he stated.

Dr. Ankrah indicated that plastic surgeries are long procedures and patients must be medically fit to reduce the potential complications.
The plastic surgeon also revealed that some people have psychological issues that cause them to be self-conscious about their body shape. Such people, he said, must be given special attention and should not be dealt with routinely.

"They are done for hours, so they tend to be more expensive than the routine procedures. So it’s expensive. There are risk of anesthesia because it’s a long procedure. I guess one of the main things is balancing patients’ expectations with what can be done," he told Doreen Avio.
But Dr. Ankrah said the potential risks involved are reduced when the patient visits a certified medical facility and is under the care of the right professionals.
