The Ahafo Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has indefinitely banned all social gatherings at Bomaa in the Tano North of Ahafo Region as a result of a chieftaincy clash which led to the death of one person and left five others with injuries.
The regional minister, George Boakye, in an interview with Adom News, explained that with immediate effect all social gatherings have been banned with the exception of Friday, Saturday and Sunday worships by Muslims and Christians respectively.
He said this after REGSEC held a closed-door meeting at Goaso and later visited the Bomaa township and also mentioned that, the timeline for the curfew which was initially from 5 pm to 7 am has been reviewed and it is now from 10 pm to 5 am.
According to the Ahafo Minister, REGSEC took the decision in accordance with the reports presented to him by the security service.
The Twafoahene of Ahafo Bomaa, Nana Kusi Agyemang, told Adom News that the traditional council is grateful to Ahafo REGSEC headed by the Minister for the review. He said all must comply with the instructions for their own safety.
“When there is a curfew, sleeping at 5 pm can be difficult therefore a new policy has been brought out and has been accepted by the traditional council so the people of Bomaa should take note of the new changes and act accordingly”, he said
He also warned individuals against standing at places in groups of threes and fours to converse and added that they have been given some time to monitor the situation before funerals and other gatherings could be allowed.
