Akumadan SHS has emerged as the winner of the Ashanti Regional Contest of the 2023 Onga Cook Art.
The AkokodurufoÉ” as they are popularly called, sealed their victory with a one-point difference from their closest competitors, Amaniampong SHS.
At the start of the first round – the orals stage - no one ever thought Ejisuman SHS would put up an impressive performance to lead the contest.
They showed promise, leading Kumasi Academy, Jachie Pramso SHS, and three other contenders with a staggering 8 points at the end of round one.
After assessing their mental prowess, the contestants then had to impress the judges with their culinary skills.

The seven competing schools had two hours to prepare a meal for two using leftovers.
All the competing schools put up an awesome performance, making it difficult for the judges to select a winner.
But it was Akumadan SHS that eventually won the contest with 70.5 percent after charging hard into the second round.
Amaniampong SHS followed with 65.5 percent, placing second.

Unfortunately, Ejisuman SHS lost momentum after leading the first round. They placed third with 62 percent.
Jaubeng SHS, Kumasi Academy, and Jachie Pramso ended the regional contest at the 4th, 5th, and 6th positions, respectively.

Adu Gyamfi SHS trailed by 48.5 percent.
Meanwhile, each participant received souvenirs from the lead sponsor, Onga.
The AkokodurufoÉ” victory secures them a slot in the zonal competition, which will kick off in May.
