The United States Vice President Kamala Harris’ work is already cut out on her trip to Africa.
During her arrival at the Kotoka International Airport on Sunday, she enumerated focus areas such as the strengthening of economic partnerships to foster development on the continent.
She will spend three days in Ghana where she will hold bilateral talks with President Akufo-Addo among others government officials.
But that will not be all. Madam Harris also touched on empowerment and some of the vital aspects of the continent which will see her administration tackle aggressively during the stay.
One of them is in the area of focus on the empowerment of females and youth in the economic sphere.
The others are digital inclusion and efforts to "support the work that must be done to increase food security, including adaptation to the effects of the climate crisis."
On the whole, Kamala Harris will look forward to building on the recent US-Africa Leaders Summit hosted by her boss Joe Biden in December last year.
The US Vice President could not hide her excitement when she told the enthusiastic crowd at the airport, "I’m very excited about the impact of the future of Africa on the rest of the world, including the United States of America.”
At the end of her three-day Ghana trip, she will visit Tanzania and then Zambia for similar talks.
Her tour of African countries will end on April 2, 2023.
