Former President, John Mahama has called on members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to disregard the supposed list of NDC MPs who approved the six ministerial nominees on Friday.

Speaking during his flagbearership campaign tour of Ellembele in the Western Region, Mr Mahama said the list circulating on social media is fake.

“I am urging all NDC supporters to ignore the list,” he pleaded.

Mr Mahama further cautioned against the victimisation of Minority MPs who joined the Majority to approve the ministerial nominees of President Akufo-Addo.

The development has caused significant disquiet in the opposition party with its grassroots livid and calling for some action.

Former President John Mahama who has labeled the act of those MPs as betrayal, however, says the party’s MPs should not be victimised as they will be needed for other key parliamentary business set to come up.

“We all know what is happening in Ghana, the only viable alternative party that can replace the NPP and put Ghana back on its feet is the NDC,” he added.

Meanwhile, there is an aggressive search for more than 30 Minority MPs who voted for President Akufo-Addo’s ministerial nominees on Friday.

Deputy Minority Leader Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah says they will find those rebel MPs but will not victimise them.

“All of you have expressed shock and disappointment about what happened in Parliament last Friday. I am also equally disappointed. The other time  I couldn’t even sleep, I woke up at dawn to check the number of MPs who voted – 176 parliamentarians voted with us, but I realised that we shouldn’t throw away our MPs because majority of our MPs voted for us.

“We are promising to find the 31 MPs who voted against the party’s directive to speak with them,” he said.

It would be recalled that on Friday, March 24, Parliament approved all six of President Akufo-Addo's nominees although the Minority vowed to oppose the nominees in their bid to get the government to cut down on its bloated size.

But when MPs cast their secret ballots, several NDC MPs broke ranks with their party and voted for the nominees.
