Former Asante Kotoko striker, Eric Bekoe, has called on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to hand Asamoah Gyan a role in the technical team of the Black Stars.
Ghana has struggled with goals from the attacking line since the exclusion of Gyan from the national team after the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
Since his absence, different coaches have explored loads of options for the Black Stars in a bid to find a long-term replacement for Ghana's all-time top scorer but none has succeeded in their attempts.
With the view of providing a solution to the long-standing problem, Bekoe, who once upon a time was firing goals for Kotoko, has suggested the GFA appoint Gyan to be part of the technical team.
“Goal scoring is being learnt. Football is scientific now and can’t be compared to previous years. To me, it will be prudent to get a strikers' coach in the person of Asamoah Gyan who is our all-time top scorer," he told Angel TV.
"I insist Gyan is made strikers coach of the Black Stars and God being so good, he’s got his license. He’s done it before and can help us solve our goal-scoring problems."
In his long spell with the Black Stars, Gyan scored 51 goals in 109 appearances including six goals during his outings at the three FIFA World Cups he played with the country.
Gyan recently acquired a UEFA B certificate in a step to begin his coaching journey.
