Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, has filed his nomination to contest the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearership.
The legislator was mobbed by a crowd of supporters despite the rains at the party headquarters in Accra on Wednesday.
The 63-year-old businessman was also flanked by some politicians and close associates.
Notable among the people in his company was the former President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi.
Kennedy Agyapong becomes the 7th member of the party to file his forms in order to run for the position.

So far, persons who have stepped up to the task include Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former Trades Minister Alan Kyerematen, former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko, Dr. Konadu Apraku, and former Agriculture Minister Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto.
On November 4, the party will elect a flagbearer for the 2024 elections.
Ahead of this, the party will hold a Special Congress on August 26, to shortlist five of them.
Other members such as Addai Nimoh, Joe Ghartey, Kwadwo Poku and Eric Sakyi Nketiah are also expected to file their nominations before the June 24 deadline.
