Former President John Mahama has encouraged the Christian Council to implement certain codes of conduct to guide the activities of Christian leaders in identifying and eliminating false prophets.

He stated that, while the Bible predicts that false prophets would emerge as the end times approach, it is prudent to thoroughly scrutinize their methods of operation to ensure that the proper things are done.

The NDC flagbearer stated during an induction service at the Tanoso Assemblies of God Church that many people had abandoned their churches for other things owing to the attitudes of some self-proclaimed prophets.

Mr Mahama stated that Christians should not be discouraged from attending church because of false prophets, but rather instead remain steadfast and serve their God sincerely.

He praised the Church's leadership for their commitment, dedication, and devotion to humanity.

Also present was Osei- Kyei Mensah Bonsu, the Majority Leader of Parliament and MP for Suame, who said it's terrible to see churches promoting consumerism rather than the essential ideals of religion.

Mr Mahama thanked the leaders of the Assemblies of God Church for their unwavering commitment to spreading the word of God.

He added that LGBTQ is repugnant to all Christian denominations, as well as the nation's cultural beliefs and customs and that there is no way the country can tolerate it.

"Our traditions and cultures, conventions and practices do frown on this. We have Muslims and Christians in this country, fortunately for us the two major religions appeal this matter, so, however, people are trying to make it appear as if Ghana is on the brink of legislating to support this, I don't know where this is coming from," he indicated.

He urged the Assemblies of God Church and other clergy to pray for the country as it approaches an election year in order to build peace and togetherness.

Rev. Augustine Kofi Bempah, the newly inducted Ashanti West Regional Superintendent, thanked church leaders and members for their cooperation and support.

He promised to expand the Church's activities, particularly by mentoring young people to become responsible Christian leaders, participating in Missions, and developing infrastructure, among other things.
