The Ranking Member on Parliament’s Health Committee was returning from his constituency when his official vehicle collided head-on with an oncoming Kumasi-Sefwi Yiawso bound Sprinter bus at the outskirts of Atwima Mponua township.
The accident occurred at about 18:05 on Saturday, when the MP’s driver, in an attempt to overtake a vehicle ahead of him burst a tyre at the passenger side of the front side.
It ran into the lane of the oncoming bus before colliding with it.

Mr Akandoh, his driver and security detail have been referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
They join a host of other passengers injured in the accident on referral.
