The Juaboso MP, Kwabena Mintah Akando, has been involved in a near-fatal car accident at Nyinahin in the Ashanti region.
The Ranking Member on Parliament’s Health Committee was returning from his constituency when his official vehicle collided head-on with an oncoming Kumasi-Sefwi Yiawso bound Sprinter bus at the outskirts of Atwima Mponua township.
The accident occurred at about 18:05 on Saturday, when the MP’s driver, in an attempt to overtake a vehicle ahead of him burst a tyre at the passenger side of the front side.
It ran into the lane of the oncoming bus before colliding with it.
The accident has left the NDC MP's vehicle, with registration GN 441-14 and that of the Sprinter, also with registration AS 7363-18 mangled.
Still Waters Radio's Barima Oduro reports that many passengers on board the Sprinter Bus sustained severe degrees of injuries.
With the help of the Ambulance Service, police and officers of the National Fire Service, those who were injured were conveyed to the overwhelmed Nyinahin Government Hospital for treatment.
Mr Akandoh, his driver and security detail have been referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
They join a host of other passengers injured in the accident on referral.
