The Ghana Education Service (GES) has relieved the Assistant Headmaster of Nkwatia Presby SHS for allegedly slapping a female student.
The embattled Assistant Headmaster is reported to have assaulted the female student, believed to be in her second year, for going out of campus without an exeat.
Following this, the GES in a press statement issued on Monday, August 28, condemned the conduct of the Assistant Headmaster.
According to the Service, Headmasters and their assistants are to ensure the safety of students and teachers under their care and not otherwise.
"The attention of the Management of Ghana Education Service (GES) has been drawn to a disturbing picture of a student of Nkwatia Presby SHS assaulted by the Assistant Headmaster (Academics) of the school."
"The GES unequivocally condemns the actions of the Assistant Headmaster, who is supposed to ensure that students and teachers operate in a safe school environment.
"The Eastern Regional Director of Education is liaising with the school authorities and the relevant law enforcement agency to investigate the matter," an excerpt of the release said.

The GES assured the public that it was committed to ensuring a safe and secure learning environment for all students across the country.
The incident was widely circulated on social media, with many netizens calling for the Assistant Headmaster to be arrested and prosecuted.
