Ghana champions, Medeama, claimed a big first-leg advantage over Horoya after an impressive 3-1 win at the Cape Coast Stadium on Sunday in the second preliminary round.
The Yellow and Mauves scored all three goals in the second half against the Guinean side after a goalless first period.
Medeama had to wait until the 49th minute to break the deadlock through Nana Kofi Babil after wasting some chances in the first half.
The second goal came five minutes after the hour mark when defender Nurudeen Abdulai headed in to double the lead for the hosts.
Kofi Asmah made it three for Medeama four minutes later to wrap up the scoring for the Tarkwa-based side.
The Guinean giants scored an important away goal in the 89th minute through Mohamed Fofana to end the game 3-1 in Cape Coast.
The reverse fixture will be played in Guinea in two weeks - September 30, 2023.
