Flagbearer aspirant for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Agyapong has revealed that he has not received any government contract since 2021.
The Assin Central Member of Parliament made the claim in response to what he says are baseless accusations that he is benefitting from government contracts yet denigrates the party in government at the least opportunity.
“Those going around that Kennedy Agyapong has been given contracts, I met the President and told him that since 2021, with all that I have done for the NPP, I haven’t gotten any contract. He said ‘What’?” he quizzed on September 18.
Speaking in an interview on Kumasi-based Kessben TV, Mr Agyapong insisted that in 2021, he came close to getting a contract from the Energy Ministry, which was later canceled at the end of the process.
“Ask NAPO (Minister of Energy, Matthew Opoku Prempeh), even at the Energy Ministry where I am strong (as Ghana gas board chair), I was given a contract that was torpedoed at the central tender review committee level."
He reiterated that despite being the subject of intimidation, along with the blocking of his businesses, "ask NAPO, when I met the old man and told him, he was shocked."
