A new police station has been inaugurated in the Amansie South District in response to the escalating crime rates in Manso Nkran.
The initiative, deemed crucial due to the surge in criminal activities, was acknowledged by the District Chief Executive (DCE), Clement Opoku Gyamfi, who expressed gratitude to the Chiefs of Manso Nkwanta, for overseeing the project's execution.
DCE Gyamfi urged the officers to uphold justice and enforce laws, keeping a vigilant eye on the community to identify and apprehend criminals who previously operated with impunity. He appealed to residents to collaborate with law enforcement by providing credible information, emphasizing that community safety is a collective responsibility.
Constructed with contemporary architectural designs, the newly built Police Station features distinct cells tailored for juvenile, male, and female suspects, accompanied by separate lavatories catering to each category. The facility boasts a spacious charge office, along with various offices designated for the stationed Officers and Men.
In addition to these amenities, the station includes modern washrooms specifically designated for the Commander and other service personnel, enhancing the overall functionality and comfort of the law enforcement facility.
Mr. Gyamfi emphasized that, despite the police taking on the responsibility of addressing crime and security concerns, it is crucial for the community to contribute to their efforts.
He urged everyone to conduct themselves in a manner that facilitates the work of the police and encouraged providing information about criminal activities.
He also underscored the idea that security is a collective responsibility, and cooperation from the community can significantly aid law enforcement in maintaining safety.
“Let's make their (police) work easy by comporting ourselves well and assist them with information about criminal activities because security is a shared responsibility", Mr. Gyamfi stated.
DCOP Eric Ken Winful, the Ashanti South Regional Police Commander, lauded the District Assembly for the station's construction, assuring that the police force would deploy personnel to ensure justice and security in the area.
George Mireku Duker, Member of Parliament for Tarkwa Nsuaem and Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, commended the community's support in fulfilling governmental and assembly responsibilities.
He highlighted the importance of security measures in the mining-heavy Amansie South area and acknowledged government funding from the Minerals Development Fund for the station's construction.
MP Yaw Frimpong Addo, representing Manso Adubia, commended the Chiefs and residents for facilitating land release and the swift completion of the police station.
He encouraged community support for law enforcement to safeguard lives and property. Additionally, he hinted at forthcoming initiatives, including road construction and the commissioning of 23 new cell sites.
"As we inaugurate this police station today,” the MP said, other initiatives, including pending road constructions and the commissioning of 23 new cell sites, among other projects, will soon follow to improve the quality of life for the residents in Amansie South.
Nana Danso Poku II, Chief of Manso Nkran, praised the government and District Assembly for the police station's construction. He called for the expedited development of community roads to facilitate business and developmental efforts.
Nana Poku pledged his support to the government, emphasizing the need for investments in Manso Nkran to create job opportunities for the youth and contribute meaningfully to the area's development.
