The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has temporarily halted its parliamentary primaries in the Nhyiaeso Constituency following the filing of an interlocutory injunction by one of the aspirants.
This development has led to the postponement of the elections in response to the legal challenge.
In a National Executive Committee meeting conducted on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, the party also disqualified a contestant in the Bimbilla constituency, resulting in Minister of Defence, Dominic Nitiwul, running unopposed.
Also, Lydia Seyram Alhassan is set to run unopposed in Ayawaso West-Wuogon after the rejection of the appeal by the party’s former constituency youth organizer, Owusu Amankwah.
About thirty other aspirants are expected to go unopposed in the NPP’s parliamentary primaries scheduled for January 27 in constituencies where the party has representation.
