President Nana Akufo-Addo left the country on Monday to participate in the 2024 Edition of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
His invitation to the global meeting came from the Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum, Prof. Klaus Schwab.
Scheduled from Tuesday, January 16 to Friday, January 19, the Davos Meeting serves as a significant international platform, bringing together leaders from politics, business, finance, and academia to discuss global issues.
Following his participation in Davos, President Akufo-Addo will travel to Kampala, Uganda, for the 2024 Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) under the theme "Deepening Cooperation for Shared Global Affluence."
The Non-Aligned Movement traces its roots back to the Bandung Conference of 1955. After Uganda, the President will attend the swearing-in ceremony of the President-elect of Liberia, Joseph Boakai, in Monrovia.
President Akufo-Addo will return to Ghana on Monday, January 22, 2024, and during his absence, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will act under Article 60(8) of the Constitution.
The President was accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, Minister of Finance Ken Ofori-Atta, and officials from the Foreign Ministry and the Presidency.
