Ghanaian footballers were the 7th most transferred players according to the latest FIFA Global Transfer Report 2023.
A total of 630 Ghanaian players were involved in transfers over the period, representing a 19.1% from 2022.
In all, 179 different nationalities were represented by at least one professional player who moved across
borders to join a new club abroad.
The top ten nationalities, in terms of the total number of transfers in 2023, saw Ghana and Nigeria emerge as the only two African countries represented in that bracket, indicating the high level of interest in talents from the two countries.
While the two West African countries made the top ten in terms of the number of transfers, the top ten spots in terms of spending were still held exclusively by nationalities from South America and Europe.
Transfers involving Ghanaian players raked in $162.9m, ranking 20th overall, with Nigeria ranking higher (15), after raking in $189.1m.
Kudus Mohammed's high profile transfer from Ajax Amsterdam to West Ham United for $48 million represents a huge chunk of Ghana's overall figure.
Ghana also saw a 36.8% increase on transfers in Women's Football, ranking 8th overall, with a total of 52 players involved in transfers.
