Joyce Bawah Mogtari, the Special Aide to the National Democratic Congress (NDC)'s flagbearer, John Mahama, insists that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia cannot escape accountability for President Akufo-Addo's shortcomings.
Mrs Mogtari asserts that Dr. Bawumia has been an integral part of the Akufo-Addo administration since 2008, and therefore cannot evade responsibility for the economic challenges faced under the governance of the New Patriotic Party.
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, February 7, the former Deputy Transport Minister insisted that Ghanaians are fully aware of the situation, and any attempt to absolve Dr. Bawumia from blame will fail.
We should all pay close attention to the Nana Addo/Bawumia union and how it operates. This union may be willing to sacrifice the ‘marriage’ for political gain and may try to deceive us by presenting a separation of the union just as a matter of convenience.

She further noted that Dr. Bawumia harbours ambitions to succeed President Akufo-Addo, but she urged Ghanaians not to support his aspirations.
"We should all pay close attention to the Nana Addo/Bawumia union and how it operates. This union may be willing to sacrifice the ‘marriage’ for political gain and may try to deceive us by presenting a separation of the union just as a matter of convenience."
"Just like the attempt to discredit the #24HourEconomy, any effort to decouple the union will fail because we know that this union, built on lies, will do anything for power, even if it means a complete dissolution of the union," she posted on X.
Later today, Dr. Bawumia is scheduled to deliver a public lecture at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), where he will articulate his vision for the nation as the flagbearer of the NPP.
The Vice President was elected as the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party on Saturday, November 4, 2023.
