The Technical Advisor at the Office of the Vice President, Dr. Tiah Kabiru Mahama, says Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia cannot be held responsible for the management of the country's economy.
This according to him is because Dr. Bawumia was assigned to spearhead the digitalization agenda with no direct involvement in economic matters.
Mr. Mahama emphasized that when considering the current flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP)'s specific areas of focus, such as digitization, he had a dedicated secretariat under his office to oversee initiatives like the implementation of a paperless port system, the digitalization of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), and the Ghana Identification Card.

“All this digitization agenda that the Vice President had, there was a secretary in his office who relayed with various institutions to ensure the delivery of those goods, those essentials, or those items that were so listed," he stressed.
Speaking on the AM Show on JoyNews, he mentioned that Dr. Bawumia only offered advice without the oversight of a dedicated secretariat when it came to the management of the economy.

The Chartered Accountant and Development Expert revealed that while the Vice President had a strong grasp on digitization, his involvement in the economy was limited to advising the cabinet using the Economic Management Team (EMT).
“So, you cannot compare the two to say that okay, once you were advising take absolute responsibility for everything."
