The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) on Monday, January 29, intercepted a significant quantity of tramadol capsules and tablets at the Tema Port.
The seized consignment consisted of a total of 1,035,000 tablets and capsules of tramadol, with a net weight of 4,734.38 kilogrammes.
This information was disclosed in a release issued by the Commission on Tuesday, February 13.

“It was discovered that the varieties of tramadol capsules and tablets include five thousand (5,000) Royal tablets amounting to fifty-one (51) cartons weighing 225mg, six thousand capsules of Timaking totaling ninety (90) cartons weighing 120mg, and six thousand capsules of Trafradol totaling forty (40) cartons weighing 120mg,” an excerpt of the press release stated.
The release further stated that this interception was in line with the Commission’s mandate concerning inspections carried out on containers at the Tema Port.

“The Commission has taken custody of the seized consignment and is in the process of handing it over to the Food and Drug Authority for further investigations,” the release further revealed.
NACOC reassured the public of its unwavering commitment to combating the menace of drug trafficking.
