Former Bibiani GoldStars head coach Michael Osei has been interviewed by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) as part of the targets for the vacant Black Stars coaching role, Joy Sports understands.
The ex-Black Stars player is among a host of other applicants who were interviewed as Ghana searches for a new head coach.
The role has been vacant since the dismissal of Chris Hughton following Ghana's exit at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after just three games.
Osei spoke to the GFA Vice President, Mark Addo, and the other committee members tasked with finding a new head coach for the senior national team on February 14.
"First of all, I want to acknowledge the playing body, Ghana Football Association for shortlisting me and granting an interview to put across the reasons for my application," the former Ghana international said.
"I have been a player in both local and international terrines, with my experience as a professional coach, both in Europe and in Ghana, I believe I have what it takes to bring together a “ready to play” team, young men who are committed to raising the flag of Ghana up high.
"I want the national head coach position, together with my team we already have the various strategies in place to bring back the love, fill stadiums and produce results if given the chance. It will be a privilege to contribute together with the team, in putting Ghana back in the top 10 of the Caf national team rankings.
"I want to bring harmony in the dressing room, that’s the first vital means of achieving unity on the field of play."
Otto Addo is said to be leading the race to become the next coach of the team a move that has been received by missed reactions from former players and football fans.
Osei was part of the Black Meteors technical team that took part in the 2023 CHAN tournament in Algeria.
