Some Ghanaians are appealing to government to address the recent power outages, which occur without any prior notice from the electricity providers.

According to affected residents from various parts of the country, the frequent disconnection is affecting their businesses.

Speaking on Joy FM's Super Morning Show on February 29th, the callers described the situation as worrying.

A caller from Oyibi emphasized the unfairness in the frequent power outages, noting that lights can go off without warning and stay off for up to three days.

“We live in a country where they promise us and fail us.

“Dumsor is back, every day the light goes off, but the worst happened on Tuesday at 2 pm. The light went off and came back at 3am on Wednesday dawn, can you imagine? This was without any notice, nothing. These guys must sit up,” he stressed.

Another caller from Adenta mentioned that his television is not working due to the recent power outages they have been experiencing.

 “I was tired yesterday from work. I turned on my TV to watch one and two before I go to bed, and everything was off.  This morning I tried to turn on my television but it’s not working. Can you imagine? It is so bad, why can’t our leaders be frank with us, that maybe we have a peculiar problem, so for now this is going to happen, this is the schedule, so that we follow it."

A caller from Tesano expressed concern over how the power outages have affected his young daughter, causing skin rashes.

 “This dumsor thing is very serious and that is why I don’t sleep in my house at Pokuase again. Before you know, light is gone. If you look at my daughter’s body, there is heat rashes, it is too much.”

Another caller from Kumasi emphasized the adverse effects of the current dumsor on his wife's business.

 “The deep thinker, John Mahama brought in a plan to stop this power problem, so when Bawumia and co assumed office they discovered that we had enough generation of power and so they sold some of this power to the neighboring countries, Burkina and the rest of them and got cash.

"Why are they not using some of this cash to fuel the plant , this is our problem, they are not fueling the plant for us to get enough power. Meanwhile, they said we have excess power. Are they keeping the money in their pocket?

“You don’t get any information from them, what is this? Why are they governing the country like this?“ he questioned.

On his part, Bismark from Tema expressed the view that those in charge of the country's affairs should modify their lifestyle to contribute to the proper state of the nation.

“If they don’t change their lifestyle this country will not go on.”

Bismark emphasized that politicians tend to sweet-talk Ghanaians when seeking power, but once in office, they quickly forget the mandates entrusted to them by the people.

“The problem we are facing in this country, today light and water, the next day, job and everything but they are enjoying. They drive big cars, but there is always light problems.

“They will go to Europe for loans and instead of them to use the loan for the purposes for which they went and took the loan, they divert and do different things.

“If the white can come and take over this country, I think it will be better, or God should come and take this country away,” he added.
