The Savannah Regional Executives of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), have expressed profound gratitude to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for what they term as waking people up to want to come home and emulate the Vice President's kind gesture.

The Regional Chairman, NPP, Professor Iddrisu Sulemana on behalf of the group, asserted that the renovation of the second Jakpa Palace by the NPP Flagbear to an ultra-modern structure was the game changer because it triggered competition leading to the Flagbear of the opposition National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama, to cut sod for the construction of a multipurpose Ndewura Jakpa Palace in Damongo.

"So, if Dr. Bawumia hasn't renovated this palace, others wouldn't have seen the need to come and do what they are now doing or what? But we thank the Vice President for waking them up to come and want to construct a multipurpose palace ", Professor Kalamonia indicated.

He recounted several opportunities that former President John Mahama had but failed to utilize to build a palace for Yagbon until now. "Presidents and Yagbonwuras have come and gone, from Yagbonwura Bawa Doshie and many other Yagbonwuras from the year 2000 to 2016".

President J. A. Kufuor's District Chief Executives (DCEs) contributed money and built the second palace that Dr Bawumia renovated. But when late President Atta-Mills and his then Vice President John Mahama came, they should have emulated the example of J. A. Kufuor and his DCEs by also building a new one or renovating the old one but that did not happen until Nana Addo and Dr. Bawumia's government came to restructure and renovate it into an ultra-modern design", he insisted.

NPP Executives, however, lauded the spirit of competition to develop Yagbon, adding, "Well, all these are good for development because too much meat in the soup doesn't spoil it but benefits the consumer ".

Myjoyonline visited the renovated palace and realized that all worn-out building materials had been removed and replaced with modern ones.

The whole palace (all rooms) is fixed with Ten air-conditioners including Six in the main hall and four in each of the two rooms and halls.

Also, the entire inner part of the building is POP and tainted window glasses to provide comfort to the King.

Meanwhile, it is almost three months since the project was completed and handed over to the King who is yet to move in
