Director of Electoral Services at the Electoral Commission (EC), Dr Serebour Quaicoe, has warned individuals to desist from falsely accusing the electoral body without any evidence to justify their claims.
According to him, the EC has always ensured due diligence when it comes to its procurements, operations, and handling of electoral processes.
However, despite the Commission's efforts, many individuals, including Civil Society Organisation (CSO) IMANI- Africa, still chastise the commission.
Speaking on JoyNews' Newfile, he argued that the EC plays a key role in Ghana’s democracy; hence, the need for institutions to desist from destroying the Commission's reputation.
“What we should be careful about in this country is that we should not destroy our institutions without just cause.
“If you go on the internet, you look for information and then you draw conclusions, at the end of the day you will be exposed,” he told host, Samson Lardy Anyenini on May 4.

This comes after IMANI Africa accused the EC of peddling “persistent misinformation.”
In a statement sighted by JoyNews, IMANI Africa demanded answers from the EC on the processes involved in the auctioning of the 10 obsolete Biometric Verification Devices (BVDs) found at a recycling company in Madina.
IMANI Africa alleged that the recycling company engaged for the exercises did not have the strict certifications for secure data destruction that is required when disposing of sensitive equipment like a BVD.
But in rebuttal, Dr Quaicoe explained that the EC disposed of these gadgets after extensive consultation. Additionally, it said repairing the faulty equipment was more expensive than procuring new ones.
The Director of Elections said he does not understand what IMANI-Africa seeks to achieve with all the criticisms.
He, therefore, suggested that CSOs verify their information before criticising them.
“Me, my concern is that, I know IMANI to be a think thank. If care is not taken, they will become talk tanks if they just come and throw figures out,” he said.
