Ghanaian attacking midfielder, Mohammed Kudus, has revealed that he takes a seat to celebrate his goals because he wants to be different from others.
Kudus first belted out the celebration after scoring a spectacular bicycle kick against Brentford in November 2023.
Taking seat on the advertising board or on a stool has become a trademark goal celebration for the 23-year-old since joining West Ham United from Ajax last summer.
Other players across various leagues, including Mohamed Salah and Man United players, have replicated this celebration after scoring goals.
Speaking on what inspired the celebration, Kudus said there is no deeper meaning to it, and added that he is doing it so he can be different from the crowd.
“Nah, there's no deeper meaning to it. I just thought about it as doing something different," he told the Premier League.
“A lot of people celebrate with knee slides and all kinds of celebrations, but I just thought about doing something different.
“And then yeah, I’m glad it’s making the waves and other people too are doing it.”
Mohammed Kudus has 13 goals in 43 appearances for West Ham this season.
