Founder of the Right to Dream Academy, Tom Vernon, has explained that the academy is working predominantly with Ghanaian coaches because they are good.
Many Ghanaian coaches have gone through the ranks at Right to Dream, including Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, CK Akonnor, and the current Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo.
Former Ghanaian midfielder Michael Essien is currently engaged at FC Nordsjaelland as an individual talent coach.
Tom Vernon, who is also the FC Nordsjaelland chairman, questioned why African coaches are not getting the same opportunities in Europe as South American coaches.
Vernon believes that market forces are not making African players as valuable as players from the continent compared to their South American counterparts.
Speaking to Joy Sports in an all-access interview at the academy’s campus at Old Akrade, Vernon said, "They decided to coach, and they are good coaches. It's natural; they're good coaches. We talked about it with Endrick, the Brazilian, like his market value.
"It's the same thing in relation to coaches. Why are Brazilian and Argentinian coaches coming to Europe and making it, but African coaches are not?
“So it's just simple; they [Ghanaian coaches] are good coaches, end of story. How other people choose to see the world is not our problem."
