Protesters embarked on another round of demonstrations against a new finance bill that seeks to introduce new taxes.
Police appear overwhelmed in some parts of the capital, Nairobi. Demonstrators have been approaching the parliament complex where fire can be seen.
Gunshots have been heard and a human rights group is saying that one person has been shot dead.
Some MPs are reportedly sheltering in the basement after they passed the bill. Protests are taking place elsewhere in the country as well.
There is a palpable anger among many Kenyans over the new measures.
Some measures were dropped last week but protesters had been demanding that the entire bill was scrapped.
Police and protesters clashed last week which led to the death of at least one person.
