Denmark’s U17 head coach, Søren Hermansen, has named Malik Pimpong, the son of former Ghana striker Razak Pimpong, in his 20-man squad to represent the country in the 2024 Inter-Nordic tournament.
The 16-year-old plays for the FC Midtjylland youth team, a club his father previously featured for.
Malik is now set to feature for the Danish development team at Inter-Nordic Championship, a series of friendly games among Nordic countries including Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden - with Sweden the host nation for this year's edition.
However, this does not rule out Malik playing for Ghana at the senior level if he chooses to do so.
His father made ten appearances for Ghana at the senior level, including at the 2006 World Cup.
Denmark will kick off the series against Finland U17 on August 1, followed by a match against Norway two days later, and will conclude their campaign against Sweden on August 8.
