The 2nd Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Andrew Asiamah Amoako, has praised the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, for his innovative and effective leadership of the Ghana Police Service.
According to Mr Amoako, the IGP and the current Police Management Board have played a crucial role in maintaining the country's stability and furthering its democratic credentials.
Speaking at a ceremony to present the Democracy Cup to the IGP at the Police Headquarters on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, Mr. Asiamah Amoako emphasised that Ghana will continue to rely on the IGP to protect and uphold the nation's security.

He lauded Dr. Dampare's contributions, expressing confidence in his ability to lead the Police Service in safeguarding the country’s peace and democracy.
“We believe that a major part of the success of our democracy depends on the Ghana Police Service. We are here to present this democracy cup to you IGP as symbolic gesture so that as the holder of the peace of this country, we can implore you to continue holding our peace together as you have always done with your administration since you took over."

"We are grateful for your leadership. The transformation in the police service under you has been inspirational, and we are grateful," he said.
The IGP, in response, assured the parliamentary delegation that he and his team are motivated by the legislative chamber's recognition of their efforts and will continue to fulfil their duties to protect and uphold the country's democracy.
