Residents of Tebu, located in the Ga South Municipality, are raising concerns about the deteriorating condition of their roads.
The roads are uneven and filled with dust, forcing many residents to abandon their cars in favour of motorcycles, commonly known as "okada."
However, the increasing frequency of motorcycle thefts by unidentified individuals has discouraged ‘okada’ riders from operating in the area.
This has left residents with limited transportation options, further complicating their daily lives.
Adding to their frustration is the situation with their Member of Parliament, Sophia Akuako. She vacated the Obom Domiabra seat to run for the Ayawaso Central constituency.
Despite technically still being the MP for the area, her loss in the election and decision not to run again in 2024 has left the residents feeling unrepresented in Parliament.
Residents believe this lack of representation has hindered their community’s development.
They suspect that the MP may be reluctant to invest resources in development projects since she will not be seeking re-election.
Ahortor Ebenezer, Tebu’s Assembly Member, has stated that the condition of the roads has deteriorated beyond simple reshaping and requires a complete overhaul, including an asphalt overlay.
